My Approach

I believe that each person is unique and that everyone brings with them their own life experiences and understandings. No one can have the same story, as we all have a different perspective on one same incident. I am interested to hear your individual perspective and your story. My main aim is to work with you in a facilitative and collaborative way. Together we will explore and understand how you feel about life and possibly look at some of the issues that you may be facing or struggling with. Together we can explore feelings, experiences, beliefs and thoughts that may be hindering your personal growth. There is no right way in working and there is also no recipe that can make the struggles go away. But what psychotherapy provides is a space to talk and explore some of these struggles.

“In my early professional years I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?”  Carl Rogers

In my approach as an integrative psychotherapist, I draw on different theories and use a variety of therapeutic modalities to assist me in understanding my clients. I develop a treatment plan based on who is in front of me. There is no “one size fits all”. I do believe that our past affects our present, but it is entirely up to you on where you want to focus or explore.

Practical Information

Initially when you call and leave a message, I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can, and over the phone i will endeavour to answer some of the queries that you may have. If you are happy to proceed, we will arrange a time for our first session.

In our first session we can see if we are a fit together. If I am the right therapist for you and if you feel happy to continue, we will decide on the practicalities. Our sessions together are on weekly basis. Each session lasts for 50 minutes. Our first six sessions are like a prolonged assessment. Following which we will contract together based on how long you would like to continue the work and what you want to work on. All notes made and any information you provide are entirely confidential.

If I am not the right therapist for you, I will try to suggest someone more suitable for your needs.

Usually in our first session we will decide on the fees. For the first session I charge a reduced rate of £40 and then onwards my fee is £60 for a 50 minute session. I have a small number of low cost places available for students and those on lower income. Please ask me about those for availability.

I will require at least 24 hours cancellation notice, otherwise you will be charged for the session.

I accept cash, card payment or payment by bank transfer and paypal.
